Pick n’ Pay Easter
A handful of still images became a complete cast of animated Easter characters in the early days of generative AI.

We made Pick n’ Pay’s Easter campaign when consistent AI character animation was still new and unreliable. Starting with a small set of bunny images, LucidState created expressive, talking characters for a series of playful social films. At the time, this was a genuinely new production method. It turned experimental technology into polished campaign material before consistent AI character animation became an established workflow.
Expanded into a repeatable cast of expressive, speaking Easter characters.
Experimental generation made campaign-ready through hands-on compositing and finishing.
01 / The challenge
Create consistency before the tools knew how
The source images were not made for animation, and the early tools had little understanding of character continuity. New poses, angles and speaking performances had to preserve each bunny through facial drift, changing proportions and unstable details. We also needed clean enough performances to place inside energetic 3D environments.
02 / The approach
Invent the workflow while making the campaign
We built a hybrid process across Photoshop, early AI animation tools and traditional compositing. A 360-degree turntable helped the model understand each bunny. Careful prompting and selection produced usable voice-driven performances. We then keyed, repaired and assembled the shots in After Effects before placing them into designed 3D scenes. Experienced post work made the experimental images reliable enough for a national campaign.
